TARABA:Hon. Tonga Hails Leadership, Peace Training in Jaji, Urges Participants to Apply Knowledge in Taraba.

A Special Adviser to Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, on Community Engagement, Hon. Sunday Yusuf Tonga, Esq., has commended the leadership and peace-building training held in Jaji, Kaduna State, describing it as a valuable investment in strengthening the capacity of stakeholders to provide effective leadership and promote peace.

Tonga, who spoke in an interview after the five-day intensive training, said the programme had exposed participants to practical knowledge and critical skills required to discharge their leadership responsibilities more effectively.

According to him, the training provided participants with deeper insights into the principles of leadership, conflict prevention, peace-building and effective stakeholder engagement, which he said were essential for sustainable development in Taraba State.

He noted that effective leadership goes beyond occupying public positions, stressing the need for leaders and other stakeholders to develop the capacity to manage differences, build trust and work collaboratively for the common good.

“The knowledge acquired during this training should not remain within the walls of the training centre. It must be translated into practical actions in our various places of assignment for the benefit of our people,” he said.

Tonga urged participants to serve as agents of positive change by applying the lessons learned to their respective responsibilities, particularly in promoting peaceful coexistence, responsible leadership and inclusive development.

He said the training came at an important time when Taraba, like other states, required committed stakeholders capable of responding constructively to emerging social, political and developmental challenges.

The Governor’s aide also expressed appreciation to the organisers and resource persons for their contributions, describing the facilitators as knowledgeable professionals who equipped participants with practical tools for effective leadership and peace-building.

He assured that the knowledge and skills acquired would not be wasted, but would be deployed towards strengthening leadership practices, fostering peaceful relationships and contributing to the overall development of Taraba State.

Tonga further called on other stakeholders, particularly young leaders and public officials, to embrace continuous learning and capacity development, noting that effective leadership requires constant improvement, self-reflection and a commitment to serving the people.

He expressed optimism that the collective application of the lessons from the training would contribute to building a more peaceful, responsible and development-oriented Taraba State.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
