The Provost of the Taraba State College of Nursing Sciences, Jalingo, Dr. Mrs. Dorcas S. Dugule, has commended Governor Agbu Kefas for what she described as people-oriented policies and interventions in the education sector.
Dugule made the commendation in a goodwill message issued to mark the 35th anniversary of the creation of Taraba State.
The Provost, who spoke on behalf of the management, staff and students of the College, congratulated Governor Kefas and the people of Taraba on the milestone anniversary, describing it as an opportunity to reflect on the state's journey and celebrate its achievements.
She particularly highlighted the governor's 50 per cent reduction in school fees, saying the policy had expanded access to education for brilliant students from less-privileged backgrounds.
According to her, the administration's intervention in the education sector goes beyond fee reduction, noting that contractors had returned to project sites while several projects were awaiting commissioning.
She also commended the prompt provision of running costs and attention to staff welfare at the College, describing the measures as evidence of the administration's commitment to improving the education sector and the wellbeing of workers.
"Your Excellency, you are indeed a pacesetter. Your vision and commitment to education, infrastructure and human capital development have continued to give Tarabans renewed hope," Dugule said.
The Provost further expressed support for continuity in governance, arguing that a leadership that had demonstrated commitment and delivered visible impact should be given the opportunity to consolidate its achievements.
"As we celebrate 35 years of Taraba State, we believe that a leadership that has demonstrated commitment and delivered visible impact deserves the opportunity to continue and consolidate its achievements for another four-year term," she stated.
Dugule described Taraba as blessed to have what she called the "Star Boy" at the helm of affairs, while praying for continued wisdom, strength and good health for the governor.
She wished Tarabans a joyous 35th anniversary and expressed optimism that the state would continue to record greater progress and development.
