SECURITY:FG's Approval of Army 10 Division Excites ALGON Chairman, Hails Kefas' Security Drive.

The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Taraba State Chapter, Hon. Moses Maihankali, has applauded the Federal Government for approving the establishment of the Nigerian Army's 10 Division in Taraba State, describing the development as a major boost to security and peace in the state.

Maihankali, who is also the Chairman of Kurmi Local Government Council, said the new military formation would strengthen security operations, particularly in border communities adjoining Adamawa State and other flashpoints affected by criminal activities.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ALGON chairman commended the Federal Government and the Nigerian Army for approving the division, while praising Governor Agbu Kefas for what he described as relentless advocacy and strategic engagements that contributed to the successful approval.

He said Governor Kefas' commitment to tackling insecurity and protecting lives and property had played a significant role in attracting the military formation to the state, expressing confidence that the division would reinforce efforts to combat banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities.

Maihankali also appreciated the roles played by traditional rulers, community leaders and other critical stakeholders whose support, he noted, was instrumental to the successful campaign for the establishment of the division in Taraba State.

He urged residents of the host communities to cooperate with the Nigerian Army by providing timely and credible intelligence to enhance security operations and enable the military effectively discharge its constitutional responsibility.

The ALGON chairman further commended Governor Kefas for what he described as remarkable achievements in agriculture, workers' welfare, pension administration and inclusive governance, noting that the administration's policies had continued to improve the living standards of the people.

He particularly lauded the governor's approval for the payment of five months' salary arrears owed to local government workers, describing the gesture as a clear demonstration of compassionate leadership and commitment to the welfare of grassroots employees.

Maihankali called on local government workers to reciprocate the government's support through dedication, discipline and improved service delivery.

He also appealed to politicians across Taraba State to shun bitterness, violence and divisive politics, urging them to embrace peace, unity and collective efforts towards the state's development.

The ALGON chairman further urged the people of Taraba State to sustain their support for the Kefas administration to consolidate the gains already recorded in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire. Their primary target was said to be Baba Umaru Gambo, a former youth leader of the community and current Commander of the Taraba Marshal in Kurmi Local Government Area. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
