The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency, Engr. Mathias Luka Agbu, has promised to make service, development and grassroots representation the cornerstone of his campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Agbu, a humanitarian and development advocate with more than 15 years of experience in education, youth development, healthcare interventions, mentorship and community-based initiatives, said his ambition to represent the constituency at the National Assembly is driven by a desire to translate years of grassroots service into broader development impact.
He said the aspiration was not about merely occupying a political office, but about using legislative representation as a platform to address pressing challenges, expand opportunities and connect constituents with federal institutions and programmes.
> “I am seeking to represent the good people of Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency because I believe representation can become a stronger platform for solving problems, expanding opportunity, and connecting our people to institutions where decisions affecting their lives are made.”
According to him, his years of engagement with communities have provided him with firsthand knowledge of the challenges confronting residents of Wukari and Ibi, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, youth unemployment, insecurity and access to economic opportunities.
Agbu described his entry into public service as a continuation of his humanitarian activities, rather than a departure from them.
> “Not from compassion to politics. But from service to greater capacity for service,” he said.
The APGA candidate pledged that, if elected, he would work to strengthen federal presence across the constituency while advocating improved infrastructure and social services.
He also promised to prioritise opportunities for young people and women and leverage legislative influence to attract development programmes, investments and interventions to Wukari and Ibi.
His campaign has increasingly centred on measurable results, accessibility and people-oriented representation, with supporters arguing that his background in community development gives him practical experience that could strengthen the constituency's voice at the National Assembly.
Agbu's message, as the 2027 elections approach, is built around a simple proposition: that political representation should translate into tangible development and improved opportunities for the people.
