IYD: Youth Participation in Politics Key to Nation Building.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Jalingo II State Constituency, Hon. Cypraim Kamai, has urged Nigerian youths to take an active role in politics and governance, saying their meaningful participation is critical to building a prosperous nation.

Kamai made the call in a message marking the 2026 International Youth Day, where he challenged young people to move beyond being spectators in the political process and actively seek opportunities to influence decisions that affect their future.

According to him, increased youth participation in politics would provide the younger generation with the platform to contribute fresh ideas, energy and innovative solutions to the challenges confronting the country and Taraba State in particular.

The APGA State Assembly hopeful maintained that youths constitute a significant segment of the population and should therefore be adequately represented in positions where policies and programmes are formulated.

He said political engagement would also enable young people to develop leadership capacity while contributing positively to governance and sustainable development.

Kamai, however, cautioned youths against drug abuse and other harmful practices capable of destroying their future and undermining their ability to contribute meaningfully to society.

He urged young people to shun substance abuse and embrace productive activities, education, entrepreneurship and other legitimate ventures that could improve their livelihoods.

The APGA candidate further pledged that, if elected, he would advocate and lobby for legislation and policies aimed at creating employment opportunities and expanding empowerment programmes for unemployed and underprivileged youths in the constituency.

He also encouraged youths to venture into legitimate businesses, stressing that entrepreneurship remains an important pathway to economic independence and job creation.

Kamai emphasised the transformative potential of technology, noting that with the right opportunities, skills and leadership, young people could deploy digital innovation to improve various sectors of governance and the economy.

He called on the youths of Jalingo II State Constituency to see themselves as stakeholders in the development of the constituency and the state, urging them to make responsible choices as the political process leading to the 2027 elections gathers momentum.

“The future belongs to the youths, but they must be prepared to take responsibility for shaping that future through responsible political participation, innovation and productive engagement,” Kamai said.

He stressed that youth empowerment should not be limited to political appointments, but should include access to skills development, employment, entrepreneurship opportunities and platforms where young people can contribute their ideas to governance.

Kamai congratulated young people on the occasion of International Youth Day and urged them to remain focused, united and committed to peaceful democratic participation.:::

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire. Their primary target was said to be Baba Umaru Gambo, a former youth leader of the community and current Commander of the Taraba Marshal in Kurmi Local Government Area. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week. The statement adds that the culprits were captured during a raid at a local hotel in Mayo Dassa area of Jalingo metropolis where they were hiding.  It adds that Further investigations led to the discovery that the gang's hideout was at Kona Mountain in Jalingo , where additional members of the syndicate were believed to be camped.
