The five-day seminar, scheduled for August 24–28, 2026, will bring together church frontline workers and community leaders, alongside government officials, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), traditional rulers, community leaders and other key stakeholders.
The programme will be held at the Catholic Pastoral Centre, Mile Six, Jalingo, Taraba State.
According to the organisers, the seminar is designed to provide a platform for stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue, strengthen collaboration and develop practical approaches to conflict transformation and peaceful coexistence.
A major highlight of the programme will be a Peace Talk Roundtable scheduled for Friday, August 28, at 9:00 a.m., bringing together government officials and traditional leaders for what the church described as a historic engagement on peace and conflict transformation.
The roundtable is expected to provide an opportunity for participants to examine challenges confronting peace and security in communities and explore sustainable pathways towards reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
The United Methodist Church Nigeria Episcopal Area urged relevant stakeholders to participate actively in the programme, stressing the importance of collective action in building lasting peace.
The invitation was announced by the church’s Communication Director, Rev. Filibus Bakari Auta, on behalf of the Resident Bishop, Bishop Ande I. Emmanuel.
The church called on stakeholders to join what it described as a collective “pathway to peace,” emphasising dialogue and collaboration as essential tools for transforming conflicts and strengthening community relationships.
