CRIMES: NDLEA Denies Alleged Discovery of Drug Bunker at Taraba Nursing College,Jalingo

By Jako Keke, August  17, 2026

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Taraba State Command, has dismissed as misleading a social media report claiming that the agency uncovered a suspected drug bunker at the Taraba State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Jalingo.

The clarification followed the circulation of a publication titled, “NDLEA Uncovers Suspected Drug Bunker at Taraba College of Nursing Sciences,” which purportedly linked the agency to an alleged operation at the institution.

In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASN Mawoh Paul Voloh, on behalf of the State Commander, the NDLEA categorically stated that it did not conduct any operation at the College or its immediate vicinity.

The Command also stressed that it had neither reported nor issued any statement concerning the alleged discovery of a “drug bunker” at the institution.

According to the NDLEA, the photographs and narrative circulating online should therefore not be attributed to the Taraba State Command, as it has no official record of such an operation or report.

The Command explained that its ongoing anti-drug activities across the state are being conducted under Operation Restore Order, an initiative aimed at identifying, disrupting and dismantling illicit drug activities and trafficking networks.

It, however, cautioned that images and reports circulating on social media do not necessarily represent official NDLEA operations or statements.

The agency expressed concern that the publication could wrongly associate the College, its management, staff and students with illicit drug activities, potentially causing reputational damage to innocent individuals and the institution.

It consequently urged members of the public and media organisations to verify information with the appropriate authorities before publishing or circulating reports, particularly those involving sensitive security and law-enforcement matters.

The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to Operation Restore Order and its statutory mandate of protecting communities, especially young people, from the dangers associated with drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.

The Command’s clarification is expected to put to rest the controversy surrounding the alleged operation and the reported discovery at the nursing institution.
