The Management of Greenland University, Jalingo, has sought a strategic partnership with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Jalingo Branch, to promote the rule of law, institutional development, peace and order in Taraba State.

The university's pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ojo Sunday Fayomi, led the management team on a courtesy visit to the leadership of the NBA Jalingo Branch at the NBA Bar Centre, Jalingo, on Thursday, August 15, 2026.

The visit was aimed at formally notifying the Bar of the commencement of academic operations at Greenland University and exploring areas of collaboration between the institution and the legal profession.

The NBA Jalingo Branch Publicity Secretary, L.L. Takdok, Esq., issued the statement announcing the visit.

Speaking during the visit, Prof. Fayomi described the legal profession as an indispensable stakeholder in the university's foundational development and integration into the wider Taraba community.

He stressed the importance of a stable environment anchored on the rule of law, orderliness and peace, noting that these values are essential to the growth and sustainability of educational institutions.

According to him, Greenland University considers the NBA Jalingo Branch a critical partner in advancing initiatives that would strengthen institutional governance, legal awareness and community development.

Responding on behalf of the NBA Jalingo Branch, the Branch Chairman, Dr. Daniel P. Saredau, welcomed the Vice-Chancellor and members of his management team.

Dr. Saredau assured the university of the branch's support towards the smooth take-off and successful development of Greenland University.

He, however, advised the university management to establish a dedicated Legal Unit within the institution to handle its legal affairs and serve as an official liaison between Greenland University and the NBA Jalingo Branch.

The NBA chairman said such a unit would provide an effective platform for driving collaborative programmes and other mutually beneficial initiatives between the university and the legal profession.

The visit is expected to lay the foundation for sustained collaboration between academia and the Bar, with both institutions seeking to contribute to the promotion of the rule of law, peaceful coexistence and institutional development in Taraba State.
