ARMY : Taraba group commend Tinubu over creation of 10 Army Division.

By our Correspondent, August 12, 2026 .
A group, the Taraba People’s Movement, on Wednesday commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the establishment of the Nigerian Army’s 10 Division in Taraba State, describing the development as a major boost to the state’s security architecture.

The group, alongside members of the Arewa Youth Assembly, made the commendation during a joint peaceful rally in Jalingo on Wednesday to express appreciation to the President for approving the new military formation.

Speaking at the event, spokesperson for the Taraba People’s Movement, Comrade Umar Sani Bello described the rally as “a simple, heartfelt thank you” to the President.

Bello said the establishment of the division had generated excitement among residents, stressing that the people were ready to cooperate with the military in ensuring lasting peace and security in the state.

“The 10 Division has arrived, and we declare loudly that we are prepared to work with this new formation in any capacity required, shoulder to shoulder, for the peace of our land.

“Our gratitude goes first to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who looked upon Taraba with compassion and gave us this mighty shield,” Bello said.

He also commended the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff for their roles in ensuring that the new military formation became a reality.

Bello said the movement had prepared letters of appreciation to the President, the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Staff, which would be transmitted through the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Jalingo.

Also speaking, the Publicity Secretary of the Arewa Youth Assembly, Aliyu Muhammad, described the establishment of the 10 Division as a “historic footprint” of the Tinubu administration.

Muhammad said the President had fulfilled his promise to strengthen the Nigerian Army and intensify the fight against insecurity across the country.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu promised to expand the Nigerian Army and take the fight to insecurity; he promised to protect our people and he has delivered. The 10 Division is now a living, breathing reality,” he said.

Muhammad also praised the Federal Government for increasing the salaries of soldiers, describing the measure as a major morale booster for troops serving on the front lines.

“It tells every man and woman on the front line that their sacrifice is seen, their blood is honoured, and their families will not be forgotten. That is leadership with a human face,” he said.

He urged the Commander of the newly established 10 Division to regard the formation as a “sacred trust” and to deploy it towards restoring confidence and safety among communities in Taraba and neighbouring areas.

“To the Commander of the newly established 10 Division, you have been handed a sacred trust; carry it with honour, work tirelessly in full alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Muhammad said.

The speakers called on residents to support the military and other security agencies with useful information and cooperation, stressing that the creation of the new division would yield its full benefits only through collaboration between security forces and communities.

The rally ended with the presentation of letters of appreciation to the President, the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Staff through the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Jalingo.
