By Jako Keke, August 24, 2026.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship campaign in Taraba State has appointed Emmanuel Umaru as the Campaign Spokesperson for its governorship candidate, Hon. Danjuma Shiddi, popularly known as Danji SS.

Umaru, who confirmed his appointment in a statement, said he was honoured by the confidence reposed in him and pledged to discharge his responsibilities with commitment.

He said the campaign would focus on presenting the policies, programmes and leadership capacity of the APGA candidate to the people of Taraba.

According to him, the Director-General of the Campaign Council, Prof. Ambrose A. Zemba, has emphasised the need for a rancour-free campaign devoid of name-calling, personal attacks and inflammatory rhetoric.

Umaru said the campaign would instead be strictly issue-based, with the team providing what it described as convincing reasons why Danji SS should be given the opportunity to govern the state.

The campaign spokesperson stressed that the contest should not be viewed as a battle among political opponents, but as a democratic process aimed at choosing leaders capable of advancing the interests of Taraba.

“This is a political contest, not a fight. At the end of the day, we are all brothers, and our priority is to see Taraba succeed,” Umaru said.

He called on supporters and other political actors to maintain decorum throughout the campaign, stressing that political differences should not undermine the unity and peaceful coexistence of the people of the state.

The appointment comes as political parties and their candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 governorship election in Taraba State.
