TARABA: ALGON Rallies Support for Kefas' Peace Initiative, Applauds ₦7bn Gratuity Payment.

The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Taraba State Chapter, Hon. Moses Maihankali, has thrown the weight of the state's 16 local government council chairmen behind Governor Agbu Kefas' peace initiative, describing the recently concluded Peace Summit as a bold step towards addressing insecurity and promoting lasting harmony across Taraba State.

Maihankali, who also serves as Chairman of Kurmi Local Government Council, said the summit, held across the three senatorial districts of the state, created an opportunity for local government chairmen, traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders to collectively chart a course for sustainable peace.

In a statement issued on Monday, the ALGON chairman said the initiative demonstrated Governor Kefas' commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring that every part of the state enjoys peace and security.

He noted that the recommendations from participants at the summit would strengthen efforts to tackle security challenges and deepen unity among the diverse communities in the state.

Maihankali urged residents to embrace the peace initiative, stressing that meaningful development can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace, mutual understanding and cooperation.

The ALGON chairman also commended Governor Kefas for approving the release of ₦7 billion to settle outstanding gratuities and death benefits owed to retired and deceased civil servants.

He described the approval as a humane intervention that would bring relief to beneficiaries and restore confidence in the government's commitment to the welfare of workers and retirees.

Maihankali assured the governor of the unwavering support of all the 16 local government chairmen in implementing the administration's Moving Forward Agenda and accelerating grassroots development across Taraba State.

He reaffirmed ALGON's readiness to continue collaborating with the state government in advancing policies and programmes aimed at improving the lives of the people.

INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week. INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire. Their primary target was said to be Baba Umaru Gambo, a former youth leader of the community and current Commander of the Taraba Marshal in Kurmi Local Government Area. Ismaila explained that Gambo and another resident, Kefas Hassan Bui, were seated outside when the attackers arrived.
