Residents of several communities in Yorro Local Government Area of Taraba State have intensified efforts to rehabilitate the deteriorating Kajong Junction–Lankaviri Road, while calling on the government and development partners to provide urgent support for the project.
The initiative, led by youths from Danjagwana, Kapugong, Nyalapa, Kashanya, Kajong and Boboto communities, aims to restore the road to a motorable condition and ease the movement of people and goods across the area.
Community members said the road serves as a vital transportation corridor, linking residents to farms, markets, schools and healthcare facilities. They noted that its poor condition has continued to hamper economic activities and expose residents to unnecessary hardship.
Despite limited resources, the youths have commenced rehabilitation work through communal labour, a move described by residents as a demonstration of unity, resilience and commitment to local development.
They, however, stressed that community efforts alone would not be sufficient to fully restore the road, urging the Taraba State Government, corporate organisations, philanthropists and development partners to intervene.
According to the communities, rehabilitating the Kajong Junction–Lankaviri Road would improve access to essential services, boost agricultural production and trade, and enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of thousands of residents in the area.
The communities appealed for prompt intervention, expressing optimism that collaborative efforts would transform the road and accelerate development across Yorro Local Government Area.
The appeal has been accompanied by the campaign hashtag #FixKajongLankaviriRoad, aimed at drawing wider public attention to the need for urgent intervention.
