DONATION: Chief Samaila “Young JP” Abonzo Empowers Takum Women, Extends Support to Youths & Communities Across Taraba.

By our Correspondent, July 6, 2026.

Chief Samaila Yakubu, popularly known as “Young JP” and holder of the traditional title “Abonzo,” has again empowered women in Takum with cash grants and food items as part of his ongoing community support drive.

The philanthropist runs an empowerment scheme that offers soft grants to women and vulnerable people in Takum for small-scale business sustainability. Beneficiaries say the support has helped them restock goods, expand petty trading, and achieve economic self-reliance.

Aside from women’s empowerment, Yakubu’s penchant for supporting youths through scholarships and vocational setups has endeared him to the youth community. He is also an employer of labour through business outlets ranging from hospitality to cattle trading and timber exportation.

In every community where his businesses are situated, from Gashaka, Bali, Wukari to Jalingo, he ensures locals are engaged and supported for economic independence. Religious organizations have also not been left out, as he regularly donates to churches and mosques, describing them as “a pool where he taps his blessings.”

Community leaders say Chief Samaila’s consistency in giving has built him a grassroots appeal that many politicians struggle to achieve.

“Young JP puts smiles on faces without asking for votes. If he were aspiring for political office, he wouldn’t work much to earn support because the people already trust him,” a Takum resident said.

Another beneficiary noted: “The grant he gave me saved my small business. He doesn’t discriminate—woman, youth, old, Christian, Muslim. He just helps.”

Yakubu was recently turbaned “Barde Bantaje” by the District Head of Bantaje in recognition of his unwavering support and humanitarian interventions that have improved lives through business engagements.

Observers believe Chief Samaila “Abonzo” Young JP represents a model of philanthropy that prioritizes people over politics, and service over title.
