The development marks the first official response from the defendants since the case was instituted at the court.
At the resumed proceedings on Wednesday, counsel to the plaintiff, Barrister L. L. Takdok of P. D. Pius and Associates, informed the court that he had no objection to the applications filed by the defendants, describing their decision to defend the suit as a constitutional right.
The presiding judge of the Federal High Court, Jalingo,Justice Salisu Mashkur granted the applications and adjourned the matter until July 15, 2026, for substantive hearing.
Speaking with journalists after the court session, Barrister Takdok confirmed that he had received separate motions from counsel to the APC and Hon. Sadiq Tafida, signalling their readiness to contest the claims brought against them.
He said his legal team would carefully study the processes filed by the defendants and prepare appropriate responses ahead of the next hearing.
Hon. Princess Leah Olusiyi Solomon, an aspirant for the Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency, is challenging the defendants in the suit, which is expected to proceed to substantive hearing on July 15.
