Sermon: Cleric Urges Faithful to Reject False Voices, Embrace Christ-like Leadership

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Taraba State on Christian Religion Matters, Very Rev. Fr. Sunday Patrick Muke, has called on Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and resist misleading influences in a rapidly changing world.

In a message to mark the Fourth Sunday of Easter, popularly known as Good Shepherd Sunday, Fr. Muke reflected on the Gospel of John (10:1–10), emphasizing the image of Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd who knows His flock and calls each by name.

He noted that the season presents a timely reminder for believers to stay focused amid growing distractions and competing voices, stressing that only the voice of Christ leads to truth, righteousness, and eternal fulfillment.

“In a time of many distractions, we are encouraged to remain steadfast in faith and not be led by false voices,” he stated, urging Christians to deepen their spiritual discernment and commitment to God.

The cleric further highlighted the qualities of true leadership as demonstrated by Christ, describing it as one grounded in love, sacrifice, and selfless service. He encouraged both leaders and followers to embody these virtues in their daily interactions and responsibilities within their communities.

Fr. Muke also called for renewed efforts toward fostering peace, unity, and the common good, noting that these values are essential for societal harmony and development.

“As we celebrate this Sunday, may we trust in the Good Shepherd who leads us to abundant life, and continue to promote peace, unity, and the common good in our society,” he added.

INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire.
