The Taraba State Local Government Service Commission, in collaboration with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, has announced plans to host a two-day training and sensitisation workshop aimed at promoting accountability and transparency in governance across local councils in the state.
According to a statement issued by the Commission’s Public Relations Officer, Justine Kassa, the workshop is scheduled to take place from April 29 to April 30, 2026, at the FastTrack Hotel Conference Hall, New Building, beginning at 8:00 a.m. daily.
The training is expected to bring together directors from the Commission as well as key local government officials, including Directors of Agriculture, Budget, Social Development, and Works, alongside Clerks of Councils from all sixteen local government areas of Taraba State.
The initiative, organised in partnership with NIPSS—Nigeria’s foremost policy think tank—is designed to strengthen institutional capacity, enhance ethical standards, and promote best practices in public sector administration at the grassroots level.
Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Alhaji Jibrin Kasim, who announced the programme, emphasised the importance of transparency and accountability in delivering effective governance and improving service delivery to citizens.
He noted that the workshop would provide participants with practical tools and policy insights necessary to address challenges in public administration and ensure responsible management of public resources.
The Commission expressed optimism that the training would foster improved coordination, efficiency, and trust in local government operations across the state.
