Bandawa Youths Back Nuki for Reps Bid, Call for Development-Oriented Leadership

Youth leaders from the Bandawa community have thrown their weight behind Hon. Bernard Anthony Nuki’s bid to represent Karim Lamido, Lau and Ardo Kola Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, citing the urgent need for responsive leadership and grassroots-driven development.

The endorsement was formally announced by the Chairman of the Bandawa Community Youths Development Association, Mr. Beruit Nock, during a press briefing held at Camp View Event Centre, Mile Six, Jalingo, on Thursday. He described the move as a defining moment in the political trajectory of the constituency.

According to Nock, the decision to support Nuki underscores a growing frustration among youths over what they termed years of ineffective representation, which they say has stalled development across the three local government areas.

He pointed to persistent deficits in critical sectors, including road infrastructure, healthcare delivery, and access to functional tertiary institutions, particularly in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, despite its vast landmass and human resource potential.

Nock noted that similar development gaps exist in Lau and Ardo Kola, where, according to him, many communities continue to grapple with neglect and limited access to basic amenities.

The youth leader also took a swipe at some political actors, accusing them of advancing narratives that do not reflect the realities on ground, while promoting candidates who lack transparency and accountability.

He emphasised the need for a paradigm shift towards leadership that prioritises inclusiveness, measurable progress, and accountability to constituents.

Describing Nuki as a seasoned professional with experience spanning both corporate and public sectors, Nock said the aspirant possesses the competence and vision required to reposition the constituency for sustainable development.

He added that Nuki’s track record in community service distinguishes him as a credible contender capable of delivering the dividends of democracy.

Nock called on traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and community leaders across Karim Lamido, Lau, and Ardo Kola to rally support for the aspiration, assuring that consultations would continue to ensure broad-based participation.

In a related interview, one of the youths present at the briefing expressed confidence in Nuki’s leadership qualities and urged residents of the three local government areas to unite behind his candidacy in pursuit of collective progress.
