POLICE: IGP Egbetokun, Gov. Kefas Strengthen Security Collaboration for Taraba.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has received the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja, reaffirming a shared commitment to enhanced security and public safety in the state.

The visit, which underscored strategic cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and the Taraba State Government, was attended by a high-powered delegation led by the governor. Members of the delegation included Senator Shuaibu Lau (Taraba North), Senator David Jimkuta (Taraba South), Senator Haruna Manu (Taraba Central), as well as members of the House of Representatives—Honourable Abdullahi Mohammed Lauwa, Honourable David Abel, Honourable Ayuba Zaku, and others. Also present were the Taraba State Commissioners for Justice, Information, and Finance.

Speaking during the engagement, Governor Kefas commended the leadership of the IGP and lauded the Nigeria Police Force for its sustained efforts in restoring peace in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, recently designated by the state government as a “Special Area of Security Concern.” He reiterated his administration’s determination to support the Taraba State Police Command with necessary logistics to boost operational effectiveness and ensure the safety of residents.

In his response, IGP Egbetokun described the visit as timely and significant, noting that strong collaboration with state governments is essential for effective, community-oriented policing. He assured that the security of Taraba State remains a priority for the Force, pledging continued deployment of operational assets and intelligence-led strategies to protect lives and property, particularly in Karim Lamido and other sensitive areas.

The IGP further emphasized the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to work closely with state executives to strengthen public confidence and sustain peace across the country.

The visit marks another step in ongoing efforts to deepen institutional partnerships aimed at building a safer and more secure environment for citizens.
