Troops Rescue Kidnapped Victim, Arrest Suspect in Taraba—Army Reaffirms Commitment to Security Under Operation Lafiya Nakowa.

Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Jalingo, operating under Operation Lafiya Nakowa and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have rescued a kidnapped victim, Alhaji Ali Adamu, from his abductors in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The rescue, which took place in the early hours of Tuesday, followed a swift response to a distress call received by troops deployed in Lau. According to a statement signed by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, the victim was abducted while sleeping outside his residence.

Acting promptly on the alert, the soldiers launched a hot pursuit of the kidnappers. “On realizing that the troops were closing in, the criminals abandoned the victim and fled into nearby bushes,” the statement read. Alhaji Adamu was safely reunited with his family without any ransom paid.

In a related development, local vigilantes and hunters patrolling around Maraban Kunini arrested a suspected kidnapper identified as Mr. Lalau Adamu (30 years old), alleged to have been involved in the abduction. The suspect, who reportedly sustained injuries from mob action before the arrival of security forces, was rescued and evacuated under military protection to a medical facility for treatment.

The Commander, 6 Brigade / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the synergy between the troops, vigilantes, and local hunters that led to the successful operation. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to aid security agencies in combating crime.

“The Nigerian Army remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens while sustaining its resolve to rid Taraba State and its environs of all criminal elements,” the statement added.

The rescue operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to restore peace and stability across Taraba State under Operation Lafiya Nakowa.
