POLITICS:Hon. Benard Anthony Nuki Launches Inspirational Bid for 2027 National Assembly Seat, Vowing to Revolutionize Representation and Empower Constituents.

By Jako,October 26,2025.

As the countdown to the 2027 general elections gains momentum, a fresh and dynamic voice has emerged in Taraba State's political landscape - Hon. Benard Anthony Nuki, popularly known as Mcnuki, who has officially declared his candidacy for the House of Representatives seat representing Ardo Kola, Karim Lamido, and Lau Federal Constituency.

In an exclusive interview with Jalingo Times Online, Hon. Nuki emphasized that his decision to join the race was driven by a deep sense of purpose to serve humanity and respond to the overwhelming calls from his constituents for a new kind of representation - one built on integrity, inclusion, and tangible development.

"I am in this race to serve humanity and make a meaningful difference in the lives of my people. We need a leadership that will translate their yearnings into reality," he said.

Highlighting the absence of tertiary institutions within the constituency, Nuki stressed that education remains the most sustainable legacy any government can give its people. He vowed to lobby for the establishment of higher institutions of learning to bridge the educational gap and empower the next generation of leaders.

"The lack of higher institutions has deprived many families of the chance to give their children a better future. We must change that. Education is the key to unlocking our human potential," he emphasized.
He also pledged to initiate scholarship schemes and support for students, while working to attract model primary and secondary schools across the three local government areas.

Recognizing the economic potential of the area, particularly in agriculture, Hon. Nuki revealed plans to establish rice mills and agro-based industries in Karim Lamido and Lau, which are major rice-producing hubs. "We must industrialize our local economy. When we create jobs through agro-processing, our youths and farmers will prosper, and poverty will reduce drastically," he stated.

Hon Benard added that youth and women empowerment schemes would be central to his economic agenda, enabling families to thrive and become self-reliant.

Hon. Nuki also pledged to champion the cause of quality healthcare delivery. He promised to lobby for the construction and equipping of functional hospitals across the constituency to complement existing ones.

In addition, he identified road networks, electricity, and communication access as critical to rural transformation, noting that improved infrastructure would connect communities and boost trade. "Our people deserve good roads, steady power, and reliable network coverage. These are not luxuries - they are necessities for progress," he affirmed.
If elected, Nuki assured that he would uphold the core duties of a legislator by making laws that benefit not just his constituency but the entire nation. He pledged to demonstrate a new model of representation, where accountability, accessibility, and transparency take center stage.

Nuki listed his three core legislative goals as: Enacting laws that foster national development and local empowerment, Providing effective representation that bridges the gap between the people and the government, and Performing robust oversight functions to ensure transparency in governance.

Hon. Benard Anthony Nuki also used the opportunity to urge eligible voters across Ardo Kola, Karim Lamido, and Lau to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to register and collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs). "Your vote is your voice. I will personally facilitate the deployment of registration machines to remote communities to ensure no eligible citizen is left out," he assured.

Speaking passionately about the need to end the cycle of "recycled politicians," Hon. Nuki said the 2027 elections present an opportunity for the people to embrace a new brand of leadership rooted in service and sincerity. "We can no longer afford leaders who appear only during elections. By the grace of God, I will change that narrative. This is a movement for inclusive legislation where every voice will count," he declared.
As momentum builds ahead of 2027, Hon. Benard Anthony Nuki’s declaration has ignited renewed hope among constituents who yearn for a people-focused representative, one determined to transform challenges into opportunities and restore faith in public service.

Kurmi on the Brink: Why Silence Now Could Spell Disaster

By The Nigerian Newspointer Editorial Board In the quiet hills and lush forests of Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State, an uneasy wind is blowing. Migration in itself is not new—men and women have always moved in search of safety, trade, and survival. But what is happening in Kurmi today bears markers that Nigeria has, sadly, seen before. And if urgent steps are not taken, the consequences could be dire. A Pattern Too Familiar From Plateau to Benue, from Southern Kaduna to Zamfara, Nigeria’s troubled history is littered with stories of migration that started innocently but later spiraled into violent conflicts. Farmers and herders once lived in uneasy but manageable coexistence until land sales, unchecked settlements, and political silence turned simple disputes into ethnic conflagrations. The echoes of those past crises are now knock...
