CRIMES:Troops Destroy Bandits’ Camp in Takum, Recover Weapons.

Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have destroyed a major bandits’ camp in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State as part of ongoing clearance operations under Operation Lafiya Nakowa.

The operation, conducted on Friday, 31 October 2025, followed credible intelligence on the movement and activities of bandits around Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages in Takum. Acting on the tip-off, the troops embarked on a clearance patrol through Tor-Tser, Kofar Ahmadu, Tornyi, Unom, Mbayongo, and Yongogba communities, effectively clearing the identified areas and surrounding settlements.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, the troops received fresh intelligence during the patrol at Kofar Ahmadu village that bandits had been sighted around TY Farm in Tati. The soldiers immediately advanced toward the area through Sabon Gida Tati, where they made contact with the criminals.

“Confronted with the troops’ superior firepower, the bandits fled deep into the forest,” the statement said. “On further exploitation, the troops discovered and destroyed a major bandits’ camp at TY Farm, effectively denying the criminals a safe haven.”

Items recovered from the site included one Dane gun and other materials used by the bandits.

Commending the soldiers for their gallantry and swift action, the Commander, 6 Brigade / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their professionalism and dedication. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace and security across Taraba State.

General Uwa also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information to help sustain the ongoing operations against criminal elements in the state.
