OPERATIONS: NIGERIAN ARMY OFFICERS FOILS KIDNAP ATTEMPT, RESCUE VICTIMS IN WUKARI.

Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wukari have once again demonstrated their commitment to the protection of lives and property as they successfully foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued victims unhurt. The incident occurred on 27 April 2025, following a distress call from the Executive Chairman of Wukari Local Government Area regarding an attack on suspected travelers along the Wukari-Kente road.  Captain Olubodunde Oni,Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 6 Brigade Nigerian Army disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen yesterday 29 April 2025. WATER SECTOR: Taraba State Government procures 5 new pumps for TAWASCO to address water scarcity in Jalingo.

The Taraba Ministry of Water Management and Aquatic Affairs has purchased 5 new 800 liter/hr pumps for TAWASCO. The Procured new pumps have so far been installed to address the scarcity of potable water to customers within the Jalingo Metropolis. According to the Public Relations Officer of TAWASCO, Dauda John the pump has a capacity of producing 800 liters/hr for customers. Hence the increase in water supply experienced in the Metropolis these days. A team of engineers from the Organization has demonstrated resilience to ensure the installation of the pumps as they are currently working to install the fifth one all in Jalingo. According to a Statement by the PRO, the Management of TAWASCO appreciates Governor Dr Agbu Kefas for his proactive role in addressing water scarcity. The management calls on the Tarabans, particularly Jalingo residents, to safeguard public infrastructure against vandalism.

CRIMES: Chairman YOWICAN Northeast Zone Evangelist Ephesian Jesse calls for concerted effort to contained drug-induced vices in Jalingo.

Security personnel in Jalingo Metropolis have been asked to intensify effort to contain drug-induced vices in the metropolitan. This is contained in a statement issued by the Chairman Youths Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria YOWICAN Northeast Zone Evangelist Ephesian Jesse (JP). The Statement condemned increase in drug-induced robbery and rape incidents in Jalingo. CATHOLIC: Late Pope Francis is described as a man of humility.

The Catholic Bishop of Jalingo Diocese, Charles Michael Hammawa, has described the late Pope Francis as a man of humility. Bishop Hammawa gave the description in a homily delivered during the requiem Mass of the late Pope Francis at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cathedral Shavon Mile Six Jalingo. He noted that during Pope Francis' Pontificate, he urged all Bishops and Priests of the world to have the smell of their sheep.  The Bishop said Pope Francis preached peace and displayed great humility urging the congregation to emulate. Pope Francis has graciously led the Catholic Church for fourteen years before his demise after a protracted illness. His burial at Saint Peter's in Rome attracted presidents, clergy, and diplomats and was seen as a period of healing, mostly the strategic meeting held by US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky before the burial.
