Agriculture: Tractors will soon be distributed to Taraba farmers.


Taraba State Farmers have been assured of timely distribution of tractors purchased by Governor Agbu Kefas.

Commissioner ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Professor Nicholas Namessan Oliver gave the assurance in an interface with newsmen at the Taraba State Transport Corporation, TSTC Workshop in Jalingo.
He said the distribution of the tractors would be made in line with Governor Agbu Kefas template by ensuring that all farmers are carried along.

Professor Nicholas Namessan Oliver opined that two hundred big tractors and seven hundred and fifty mini tractors are expected in the state.

The Commissioner, enumerated accessories already procured by the Taraba State Government to include,threshers,mower,plough,harvesters and others.

He maintained that the farm mechanization policy of Governor Agbu Kefas would no doubt reduce labour and ensure timelines in farming.

On his part,Director Engineering Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security ,Hiridus Richard Jen stated that Engineers of the Ministry and others have been trained to coupled the tractors and as well carry out other task to ensure that Governor Agbu Kefas Mechanization policy succeed.

He described Governor Agbu Kefas as a talk and do Governor who meant well for the people.

Also speaking, Chairman of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria RIFAN Taraba State Chapter  Tanko Bobbo Andemi applauded Governor Agbu Kefas for matching words with action over the arrival of the tractors.

The Chairman advised government to distribute the tractors to only genuine farmers to meet the purpose intended.

Tanko Bobbo Andemi encouraged farmers to reciprocate the good intention of Governor Agbu Kefas by doing the right thing.

As at the time of filling this report tractors are still arriving the TSTC Workshop venue of the assemblage.
