The Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor on Christian Religion Matters, Very Rev. Fr. Sunday Patrick Muke, has called on Christians to uphold the virtues of peace, unity, compassion, and selfless service as they celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi.
In a goodwill message issued on Sunday to commemorate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, Fr. Muke described the Holy Eucharist as God's priceless gift to humanity, stressing that it remains the spiritual nourishment that strengthens believers to live lives of faith and love.
Reflecting on the Gospel reading of John 6:51–58, he noted that Jesus Christ is the "living bread" who gives life to the world and urged the faithful to draw inspiration from the sacrament in their daily interactions with others.
According to him, the celebration of Corpus Christi offers Christians another opportunity to renew their commitment to the teachings of Christ by promoting harmony, reconciliation, and acts of kindness within their families and communities.
"The Holy Eucharist is God's precious gift to His people, nourishing us spiritually and strengthening us to live lives of faith, love, and service. As we receive the Body and Blood of Christ, may we be inspired to promote peace, unity, compassion, and selfless service in our communities," he stated.
Fr. Muke further encouraged Christians to approach the Eucharist with reverence and gratitude, allowing the presence of Christ to guide their decisions and shape their conduct in everyday life.
He also prayed for God's blessings upon the people of Taraba State and the nation at large, expressing hope that the values symbolised by the Body and Blood of Christ would foster greater understanding and peaceful coexistence among citizens.
The Governor's aide wished Christians a joyful and spiritually fulfilling celebration of the Feast of Corpus Christi.
