The Independent National Electoral Commission, , has commenced a three-day national workshop for selected national officers of registered political parties across the country.
The workshop, which began on Tuesday in Lagos, is focused on strengthening political party administration, regulatory compliance and financial accountability ahead of future electoral activities.
The training, themed “The Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties, 2026 and the Political Party Finance Reporting and Audit Systems (PFRAS)”, is taking place at the BON Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos State.
According to information released by the , the party is being represented at the workshop by key national officers following the directive of the party’s National Chairman, .
The PDP delegation includes the National Secretary, ; the National Organizing Secretary, ; and the Deputy National Financial Secretary, .
The party disclosed that its representatives successfully participated in the first day of the workshop, which is expected to run from May 12 to May 14, 2026.
INEC said the workshop is aimed at deepening political parties’ understanding of the commission’s updated regulations and guidelines, while also enhancing transparency and accountability in party finance reporting and auditing processes.
Political observers believe the initiative forms part of efforts by the electoral body to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic process through improved compliance and institutional capacity among political parties.
