As preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections, aspirants seeking elective positions under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Taraba State have continued to troop to the party secretariat in Jalingo to submit their Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.
The development comes as the timeline approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the conduct of party primaries draws closer, prompting aspirants across various constituencies to complete the necessary documentation required by the party.
Among those who recently submitted their forms is Hon. Jonah Bakari, an aspirant for the Ardo Kola/Karim Lamido/Lau Federal Constituency seat. Also at the party office was Hon. Fredrick Umaru, who is contesting for the Karim I State Constituency seat.
Others include Hon. Rimam Shawulu Kwenum, an aspirant for the Takum/Ussa/Donga and Yangtu Special Development Area Federal constituency, as well as retired Sergeant Ishaku Ali Lito, who is seeking to represent Karim II State Constituency.
The submission exercise attracted party supporters, stakeholders and loyalists who accompanied the aspirants to the PDP secretariat, a development observers say reflects growing political activities ahead of the party primaries in the state.
Speaking shortly after submitting his nomination forms, Hon. Fredrick Umaru pledged to provide quality and people-oriented representation if elected by the people of his constituency.
He said his administration would focus on youth empowerment, improvement in the education sector and strengthening security across communities within the constituency.
According to him, the rising challenges facing young people and rural communities require purposeful leadership and effective representation at the state assembly.
Political analysts in the state believe the increasing number of aspirants purchasing and submitting forms under the PDP indicates heightened interest in the 2027 elections, especially as political parties begin internal consultations and grassroots mobilization across Taraba State.
