The Nigeria Democratic Congress has successfully concluded its national convention in Abuja, with party leaders and delegates from across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory converging to chart a new political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The convention attracted party faithful, stakeholders and supporters from different parts of the country, signalling what party leaders described as a renewed drive to strengthen the NDC’s grassroots presence and national relevance within Nigeria’s political landscape.
Leading the Taraba State delegation to the convention was the state chairman of the party, Ambassador Charles Tiuda, alongside other top officials and supporters. Also present at the gathering was National Assembly hopeful for Ardo-Kola, Karim-Lamido and Lau Federal Constituency, Bernard Anthony Nuki.
Speaking shortly after the convention, Ambassador Tiuda described the exercise as peaceful, successful and impactful, noting that the party had demonstrated unity, maturity and readiness to provide an alternative platform for Nigerians seeking credible leadership.
He urged members and supporters of the party to remain committed and rally behind the newly inaugurated leadership of the party in order to ensure victory during the 2027 general elections. According to him, only a united front would enable the NDC to achieve its political objectives and deepen democratic participation across the country.
Also speaking, Hon. Bernard Anthony Nuki commended the national leadership of the party for laying what he described as a solid foundation for the growth and expansion of the NDC. He expressed confidence that the party possesses the capacity to compete favourably in the next general elections and deliver the kind of leadership and development Nigerians desire.
The aspirant further maintained that members of the party at all levels were determined to work collectively towards building a strong political movement capable of bringing meaningful change, improved governance and inclusive development to the country.
