The media team of former Taraba State Governor, Jolly T. Nyame, has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that the ex-governor has withdrawn from the race for the Taraba North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a press briefing issued on Monday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Zeal Obidah Bitrus, the camp described the publication allegedly authored by Mr. James Amie as false, misleading, and politically motivated.
The statement specifically refuted claims that Nyame had stepped down in favour of Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau, insisting that no such decision had been taken by the former governor.
According to the release, any official position regarding Nyame’s political ambition would only be communicated through recognized channels, including formal press conferences, official statements, and credible print or electronic media platforms.
The media aide urged members of the public and supporters of the former governor to disregard the viral message, which allegedly stated that Nyame had withdrawn from the contest “to Sen. Shuaibu Isa Lau continuity,” describing it as fake news aimed at creating unnecessary political tension in the state.
The statement further appealed to supporters, political associates, and residents of Taraba State to remain calm and law-abiding, warning against cyberbullying, online harassment, or actions capable of escalating tensions on social media.
It reaffirmed the commitment of Nyame’s camp to peaceful political engagement and respect for democratic principles.
