2027: Coalition Endorses APGA’s Danji SS for Taraba Governorship.

By our Correspondent, May 10, 2026.
A coalition of citizens under the aegis of the Taraba Concerned Group has thrown its weight behind the governorship ambition of Danjuma Shiddi ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the state needs a new direction to overcome years of stagnation and underdevelopment.

The group announced its endorsement on Monday in Jalingo, describing the aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance as a credible leader with the capacity to reposition Taraba for growth and sustainable development.

Addressing journalists, the spokesperson of the group, Emmanuel Umaru, said the endorsement followed consultations across the 16 local government areas of the state. He noted that the decision was based on what he described as Danji SS’s track record in accountability, transparency, and grassroots engagement.

According to Umaru, the coalition carefully assessed the leadership qualities of various political actors before arriving at its decision, insisting that the endorsement was driven by competence and public trust rather than political sentiment.

He further stated that Danji SS has consistently demonstrated concern for the welfare of ordinary citizens through his advocacy on governance and public accountability. Umaru referenced the aspirant’s recent open letter to Governor Agbu Kefas, in which he questioned the management of federal allocations and the state’s rising debt profile despite what the group described as limited developmental progress.

The coalition maintained that the letter resonated widely among residents and reinforced public perception of Danji SS as a politician committed to transparency and responsible leadership. Umaru argued that Taraba has suffered setbacks in critical sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, education, and youth empowerment, stressing that the state requires visionary leadership capable of reversing the trend.

The group also called on students, traders, traditional institutions, civil servants, and youth organisations across the state to support what it described as a movement for a better Taraba. It disclosed plans to commence statewide mobilisation and sensitisation campaigns in the coming weeks ahead of the 2027 political season.

“Taraba deserves better, and with Hon. Danji SS, better is possible,” Umaru declared.
