Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has approved the nomination of Dr. Emmanuel Lawson Hassan and Mrs. Fatima Tenny Habeeb as commissioners, in a move aimed at strengthening governance and service delivery in the state.
The announcement was contained in a press release issued on April 1, 2026, by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
According to the statement, Dr. Emmanuel Lawson Hassan, a native of Takum Local Government Area, previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor in the Office of the Deputy Governor. He also oversaw the Strategy and Portfolio Delivery Office (SPDO), where he played a role in coordinating government programmes and policy implementation.
Described as an accomplished academic and politician, Hassan is recognised for his contributions to education, research, and public administration. The government expressed confidence that his experience across academia, politics, and governance would enhance policy execution and institutional performance.
Similarly, Mrs. Fatima Tenny Habeeb, who hails from Lau Local Government Area, brings decades of public service experience to her nomination. She began her career as a teacher before transitioning into the state civil service as an Information Officer, rising through the ranks to become a Permanent Secretary.
The statement noted that Habeeb’s background in education, administration, and information management positions her to contribute significantly to governance and public communication in her anticipated role.
In a related development, Governor Kefas also approved the appointment of Muhammad Al-Ameen Ibraheem as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor with immediate effect.
Ibraheem is said to have served in multiple capacities within the state’s political and administrative structure, including as Senior Special Assistant on Projects Monitoring and Evaluation. He also chaired the Technical Sub-Committee on Projects and Policies Verification/Advisory Committee, and served as Secretary of the Special Committee for the remodelling of Government Science Secondary School, Jalingo, among other responsibilities.
The government clarified that while the commissioner nominees will undergo screening and confirmation by the Taraba State House of Assembly, the appointment of Ibraheem takes immediate effect.
The appointments are seen as part of ongoing efforts by the Kefas administration to consolidate governance structures and accelerate development initiatives across the state.
