In a move underscoring ongoing efforts to reinforce community policing and grassroots security architecture, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jalingo Division, Balarabe Suleiman, on Thursday paid a familiarisation visit to the Mile Six Police Outpost located within the Jolly Nyame Housing Estate, popularly known as Tecnobat.
The visit, which took place on April 9, 2026, brought together key stakeholders including community leaders and representatives of the Mile Six Youths Development Association (MYDA), in a strategic engagement aimed at addressing emerging security concerns and strengthening collaboration between residents and law enforcement agencies.
Chairman of MYDA, Comrade Emmanuel James, disclosed details of the meeting in a statement issued to journalists, noting that the interaction provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange ideas on practical measures to enhance safety and maintain law and order in the area.
According to him, discussions during the visit centred on intelligence sharing, community vigilance, and the importance of fostering mutual trust between the police and residents as critical components of effective crime prevention.
Comrade James commended the Taraba State Police Command for what he described as its sustained commitment to community policing, stressing that such initiatives have continued to yield positive outcomes in crime reduction across Jalingo and its environs.
He further assured of MYDA’s readiness to partner with security agencies by mobilising youths and residents to support ongoing efforts, particularly through timely dissemination of credible information to the police.
The youth leader also used the occasion to call on young people in the community to remain law-abiding and desist from activities capable of undermining public peace, urging them instead to serve as responsible stakeholders in safeguarding their environment.
In the same vein, he lauded the newly posted Commissioner of Police in Taraba State, CP Morkwap Dongshal, for rolling out proactive security strategies aimed at ensuring the protection of lives and property, not only in Jalingo but across the state.
Observers note that the DPO’s visit aligns with broader policing reforms that emphasize community engagement as a vital tool in tackling security challenges, particularly at the grassroots level where early detection and response remain crucial.
