Hon. Silas Kesavo has officially declared his intention to contest for the Lau Constituency seat in the Taraba State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kesavo, who made the declaration in a press statement issued on Saturday, said his decision followed sustained calls and encouragement from constituents across the constituency, urging him to step forward and provide purposeful leadership.
The aspirant will be contesting under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), having resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC). He described his defection as a strategic move driven by his conviction that the PDP offers a better platform to address the developmental needs and aspirations of the people of Lau Constituency.
Kesavo noted that his ambition is anchored on a commitment to inclusive governance, transparency, and people-oriented representation. According to him, his aspiration is borne out of a desire to restore public trust in leadership and ensure that the benefits of democracy reach all segments of the constituency.
“I am committed to providing quality representation, promoting good governance, and maintaining an open-door policy that encourages active engagement with constituents, particularly at the grassroots,” he said.
A native of Bamga community in Jimlari Ward of Lau Local Government Area, Kesavo pledged to bridge the gap between government and the people by championing policies that would improve livelihoods, enhance infrastructure, and empower youths and women.
Highlighting his professional background, Kesavo said his experience as an accountant has equipped him with the skills necessary to promote financial discipline, transparency, and accountability in public service.
He also pointed to his record in humanitarian services and community development as evidence of his readiness to serve with integrity and dedication.
The aspirant called on the people of Lau Constituency to support his bid, stressing the need for collective effort in building a more inclusive, progressive, and prosperous constituency.
The 2027 elections in Taraba State are expected to witness increased political activity as aspirants begin to position themselves across various constituencies.
