The Chairman of the Taraba State Scholarship Board, Hon. Bashir Yakubu, on Thursday presided over a high-level management meeting aimed at repositioning the Board for improved service delivery and greater impact on students across the state.
The meeting, held on April 9, 2026, focused on addressing key operational challenges and charting a sustainable path for the future of the Board. Discussions centred on enhancing transparency in scholarship administration, strengthening accountability mechanisms, and improving staff performance to meet evolving demands.
Hon. Yakubu, who described the session as productive, emphasized the urgent need for innovation, particularly the adoption of digital systems to streamline processes. He noted that integrating technology into the Board’s operations would ensure faster, more reliable, and accessible services for applicants and beneficiaries.
“We are determined to build a system that is transparent, efficient, and inclusive. Our goal is to ensure that every deserving student in Taraba State has access to scholarship opportunities without unnecessary bottlenecks,” he said.
The Board also explored strategies to expand scholarship coverage, with a renewed focus on merit-based selection and inclusiveness. As part of its forward-looking agenda, the management considered introducing new scholarship opportunities in specialized fields such as aviation and maritime studies, in line with global educational trends and workforce demands.
In addition, the meeting highlighted the importance of catering to vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, to ensure that no segment of society is excluded from benefiting from government educational support.
Hon. Yakubu reaffirmed his commitment to repositioning the Board in line with global best practices, noting that the reforms under consideration are designed to make the institution more responsive and impactful.
The Taraba State Scholarship Board plays a critical role in supporting the educational aspirations of students within and outside the state, and recent efforts signal a renewed drive to enhance its efficiency and reach.
