The Special Adviser to the Governor of Taraba State on Christian Religion Matters, Very Rev. Fr. Sunday Patrick Muke, has called on Christians to embrace unity, love and spiritual renewal as they commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Fr. Muke made the call in a goodwill message at the Taraba State Interdenominational Easter Cantata, where he described the gathering as a vital platform for believers to unite in faith and celebrate the essence of Easter—victory over death and the promise of new life.
Speaking on the theme, “Up from the Grave” (Matthew 27:52–53), he said it highlights hope, restoration and triumph, noting that Christ’s resurrection remains a living reality capable of transforming lives and strengthening faith, especially in difficult times.
He stressed that the Easter message challenges Christians to rise above despair, division and societal pressures, and instead promote peace, unity and righteousness. The Cantata, which featured hymns, songs and choral ministrations, also served as a vehicle for spiritual upliftment and reflection.
The cleric further urged believers, regardless of denominational differences, to work collectively as agents of positive change, fostering harmony and peaceful coexistence across communities.
Fr. Muke commended the Governor of Taraba State, , for his consistent support for Christian activities and commitment to religious harmony and inclusive governance, noting that such backing has enabled faith-based initiatives to flourish.
He encouraged participants to carry the message of Easter beyond the event by living lives that reflect hope, love and faith, while also praying for healing, restoration and progress in Taraba State and Nigeria at large.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the (CAN), Taraba State Chapter, Very Rev. Fr. Williams Peter Awoshiri, urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and devotion to God. He also commended the organisers, describing the initiative as a genuine demonstration of commitment to the propagation of the gospel.
Earlier, the convener of the event, Mrs. Dorothy Bani Faransa, expressed satisfaction with the turnout at the maiden Easter Cantata in Jalingo. She said the programme was organised to celebrate Christ’s victory over death and to encourage believers to spread the gospel of peace.
The Interdenominational Easter Cantata attracted Christian leaders, government officials and worshippers from across the state, featuring moments of worship, reflection and renewed commitment to spiritual growth.
