INAUGURATION: Mile Six Youths Inaugurate New Leaders, Demand Urgent Infrastructure Upgrade in Jalingo.
Officials of the Mile Six Youths Development Association (MYDA) have been formally inaugurated in a ceremony held at Mumuye House, Mile Six, Jalingo, marking a new chapter in youth-driven community development in the area.
The newly sworn-in executives include Comrade Emmanuel James as President; Benjamin Hassan, Vice President; Augustine Habila, Secretary General; Sylvanus Sunday Audu, Assistant Secretary General; and Comfort Ismaila, Treasurer. Others are Sunday Ayo Clement, Financial Secretary; Sabastine Sylvester, Public Relations Officer; Gaddafi Salihu, Auditor; and Peter Emmanuel Tosin.
Delivering a keynote message at the event, former Taraba State Governor, , urged youths to embrace vocational skills and entrepreneurship, stressing the need to become employers of labour rather than depend solely on white-collar jobs. Represented by Professor Jerome Nyameh, the former governor encouraged the young leaders to take advantage of opportunities that would enhance self-reliance and community growth.
Also speaking, the Chairman of , Hon. Nuru Dantsoho, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Nathaniel Peter, congratulated the new executives and tasked them with charting a progressive course for youth development in Mile Six. He pledged the council’s commitment to executing people-oriented projects that would positively impact residents.
The Councillor representing Kona Ward, Hon. Moses Shumen, described youths as the bedrock of any meaningful society and assured the association of his readiness to collaborate in advancing development initiatives.
In his remarks, the District Head of Howai, Micheal Vakkai, called on the youth body to articulate a comprehensive development blueprint for Mile Six. He noted that their inauguration was not merely ceremonial but a call to service and responsibility toward the progress of the community.
In his inaugural address, MYDA President, Comrade Emmanuel James, appealed to the Taraba State Government and the Jalingo Local Government Council to urgently construct culverts linking Danjako and Dangangang communities. He lamented that residents are often cut off from Mile Six during the rainy season due to poor access roads.
Comrade Emmanuel expressed gratitude to the youths and elders for the confidence reposed in the new leadership and pledged to foster unity among members to drive sustainable development in Mile Six and its environs.
