Yorro Lawmaker Distributes Relief Materials to Tertiary Students.

Member representing Yorro Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Joseph Kannong Kassong, has distributed relief materials to students of Yorro origin studying in various tertiary institutions across the state.

The distribution ceremony, held at the Theatre Arena of Taraba State University, Jalingo, attracted dignitaries, community leaders, education stakeholders and hundreds of beneficiaries.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Kassong said the initiative was driven by his commitment to support the academic pursuits of students from his constituency and to reduce the economic burden on them.

According to him, the gesture aligns with his vision to positively impact the lives of Yorro people, especially the youth who, he noted, hold the key to the area’s development.

 He urged the students to remain focused, take their studies seriously and be worthy ambassadors of Yorro Local Government Area and Taraba State at large.

“This is just the beginning,” the lawmaker said, assuring that more interventions would be rolled out to support residents of the constituency.

Speaking, the Vice Chancellor of Taraba State University,Jalingo,Professor Sunday Paul Bako appreciated the Legislator for the gesture.

The VC said this gesture has impacted well on live of students who are currently undergoing their studies at tertiary institutions across the state.

He remarked that this is an indication of his commitment to serving the constituents well and encouraged him to keep the flag flying in his representation to the people.

In his remarks, the Pioneer Mister Mumuye, His Royal Highness Jachanbi Kassa, applauded the lawmaker for what he described as a life-touching intervention. He praised Hon. Kassong’s compassion toward students, noting that over 200 beneficiaries would remain grateful for the support.

Also speaking, an educator, Joseph Konla, commended the legislator for prioritising the welfare of students and for extending relief materials to them at a crucial time.

Some beneficiaries who spoke separately expressed appreciation, describing the gesture as unprecedented. They said it was the first time they were receiving such direct support from an elected representative and noted that the lawmaker had earned a lasting place in their hearts.

Items distributed included 25-kilogram bags of rice, spaghetti, seasoning cubes, and a cash token.
