CRISIS:6 Brigade Troops Neutralise Four Armed Militia, Recover Weapons in Taraba Clash.

By Jako.

Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have neutralised four armed militia members and recovered a cache of weapons following renewed communal violence in Usmanu Village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The operation, carried out under Operation Peace Shield, was launched after credible intelligence indicated a fresh outbreak of hostilities in the long-standing land dispute between the Shomo and Wurkun communities. The conflict, which has repeatedly flared over the years, escalated into armed clashes that left several houses and properties destroyed.

The statement was issued by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, on 30 November 2025 to newsmen in Jalingo.

According to military sources, the troops were deployed swiftly to the area to halt the violence and prevent further breakdown of law and order. On arrival, they reportedly came under heavy fire from armed assailants emerging from the Fadama axis.

A brief but intense gunfight ensued, during which the soldiers overpowered the attackers, neutralising four militia members. A subsequent sweep of the area led to the recovery of three dane guns, a fabricated AK-47 rifle, 25 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and two motorcycles believed to have been used by the assailants.

In a surprising twist, a personnel of the Nigeria Police Force was arrested at the scene for allegedly operating alongside the armed group. Military authorities say he is currently undergoing investigation and profiling to ascertain his level of involvement.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, commended the troops for their professionalism and swift response. He reiterated the Brigade’s resolve to sustain operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements and restoring peace across Taraba State.

General Uwa urged residents of Karim Lamido and neighbouring communities to remain calm, assuring them of the Army’s commitment to restoring lasting peace. He further appealed for continued cooperation with security agencies through the provision of timely and credible information.

The Nigerian Army also encouraged the public to report suspicious movements as ongoing security efforts continue under Operation Peace Shield, Operation Lafiya Nakowa and Operation Zafin Wuta.

Kurmi on the Brink: Why Silence Now Could Spell Disaster

By The Nigerian Newspointer Editorial Board In the quiet hills and lush forests of Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State, an uneasy wind is blowing. The echoes of those past crises are now knock...
