CRIME:Troops Arrest Another Notorious Kidnap Kingpin in Southern Taraba.

By Jako.
Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have recorded yet another significant breakthrough in the ongoing Operation Zafin Wuta, with the arrest of a notorious kidnap kingpin terrorising communities in Southern Taraba.

The suspect, identified as Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, was apprehended on 23 November 2025 while attempting to flee Wukari Local Government Area. His arrest comes barely 24 hours after troops captured Mr. Umar Musa, another notorious kidnapping mastermind linked to a violent criminal network operating across the region.

The report was issued by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, on 24 November 2025.

According to military authorities, preliminary investigations indicate that Bawa and Musa are close associates and key figures in a broader criminal syndicate responsible for multiple abductions, coordinated attacks and other violent crimes in Southern Taraba.

Reacting to the development, the Commander, 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their professionalism and operational efficiency. He said the arrest reinforces the effectiveness of Operation Zafin Wuta, which is aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring stability to affected communities.

“This is a clear indication that Operation Zafin Wuta is achieving its intended objective,” he stated. “No criminal element will be allowed to escape justice as long as these operations continue with the current momentum.”

He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to sustained clearance operations and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to assist security agencies.

The suspect is currently in military custody and undergoing intensive interrogation as investigations into the syndicate deepen.

The Nigerian Army assured that troops under 6 Brigade remain on high alert as efforts to restore lasting peace in Southern Taraba continue.

Kurmi on the Brink: Why Silence Now Could Spell Disaster

By The Nigerian Newspointer Editorial Board In the quiet hills and lush forests of Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State, an uneasy wind is blowing. Migration in itself is not new—men and women have always moved in search of safety, trade, and survival. But what is happening in Kurmi today bears markers that Nigeria has, sadly, seen before. And if urgent steps are not taken, the consequences could be dire. Farmers and herders once lived in uneasy but manageable coexistence until land sales, unchecked settlements, and political silence turned simple disputes into ethnic conflagrations. The echoes of those past crises are now knock...
