Faith, Leadership, and Unity Take Center Stage as YOWICAN 2025 Convention Ends in Abuja

The 2025 National Convention of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) has ended peacefully in Abuja, drawing enthusiastic participation from Christian youths across the country. The one-day event, held at the prestigious National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory, brought together young Christian leaders, clergy, and stakeholders from all six geopolitical zones for a time of worship, leadership training, and strategic networking.

The convention, themed "Shine Bright: Reflecting God's Glory" (Matt 5:6), featured impactful sessions, including spirit-filled worship services, powerful Exhortation, special prayer session and dedication and presentation of Buses. The event was graced by top CAN leaders including the National CAN President who was ably represented by the CAN General Secretary and the chaplain Ecunumical center and other top national leaders of YOWICAN, including Ambassador Belusochukwu M. Enwere, National Chairman, and Hon. Elijah Adashu Bako, National Secretary and other national leaders of YOWICAN.

Speaking on the outcome of the event, Evang. Jesse Ephesian JP, Chairman of YOWICAN Northeast Zone, described the gathering as "a spiritual and intellectual reawakening." He highlighted the donation of 18-seater CNG buses to zonal leaders by Nigeria's First Lady, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as a significant boost to youth mobility and coordination of Christian activities.

Looking ahead, Evang. Jesse expressed optimism about the forthcoming maiden Northeast YOWICAN Convention, scheduled to hold in Jalingo, Taraba State, from November 13 to 15, 2025. The event is expected to feature Bible quizzes, leadership seminars, interstate football matches, worship services, and mentorship sessions.

Over 2,500 Christian youths from the six states of the Northeast are expected to participate in the Jalingo convention. Evang. Jesse urged Christian youths to turn out en masse, saying, "The upcoming conference in Jalingo will be a platform to renew our commitment to God, nation-building, and youth empowerment."

The YOWICAN Northeast Zone Chairman appreciated the national leadership under the chairmanship of Ambassador Belusochukwu M. Enwere and the national secretary Hon. Bako Adashu Elijah for their good leadership quality in making the convention a success. He also called on well-meaning individuals to support the forthcoming YOWICAN convention in Jalingo, Taraba State, to ease challenges in accommodations, feeding, and program production.

The 2025 YOWICAN National Convention has reaffirmed the resolve of Christian youths to remain agents of peace, unity, and godly leadership in Nigeria.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area.
