YOWICAN Northeast Conference:Finance Committee Rallies Support in Taraba.

Preparations for the maiden Northeast Conference of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) are in top gear as the Finance Committee embarks on courtesy visits to prominent personalities in Taraba State to solicit support for the historic event.

Leading the delegation, the Chairman of the Finance Committee, Rev. Dr. Princewill Ezra Solomon, said the visits were necessary to Inform to prominent personalities as they work to ensure the success of the conference.

The first point of call was Rt. Hon. Deacon Abel Peter Diah, member representing Mbamnga Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly and former Speaker of the House. Rev. Dr. Solomon recalled Diah’s active role during a previous choristers’ conference in Jalingo, describing him as a passionate supporter of the gospel. He commended his continuous contributions to the propagation of Christianity.

Echoing the sentiment, YOWICAN Northeast Zonal Chairman, Evangelist Ephesian Jesse, praised the lawmaker for his service to humanity and urged him to sustain his commitment to community development.

In his response, Hon. Diah appreciated the committee for the visit and pledged his full support for the success of the maiden YOWICAN Northeast Conference.

The delegation also visited Dr. Clifford Yubsih Menchak, a lecturer;Department of Counseling,Educational Psychology and Human Development,Faculty of Education, Taraba State University, Jalingo. After being briefed on preparations, Dr. Menchak expressed gratitude for being considered and assured the committee of his advice and support.

At the office of the Commissioner for Digital Economy and Innovation, Hon. Gideon Mbaso Nonso, the committee received another pledge of support. The commissioner said the event was timely, as it would foster unity among Christian youths in the region. 

He commended CAN’s leadership for continually uniting Christians to speak with one voice.

Similarly, the committee met with the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Peter George, who emphasized the importance of constant prayers for leaders, particularly Governor Agbu Kefas, as he works to build a better Taraba. He assured the committee of his commitment to the success of the program.

In another engagement, the team visited Ambassador Dr. Philip Munlip, a onetime governorship aspirant in Taraba State. Ambassador Munlip pledged financial support and promised to participate as a speaker at the conference, encouraging youths to embrace leadership responsibilities. Evangelist Jesse, who spoke at the meeting, also appreciated Munlip’s role in mentoring youths, noting that he had personally benefitted from his guidance.

The committee further received encouragement from the Chairman of the Taraba State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Rev. Iro Aliyuda Moses, who lauded YOWICAN’s leadership for selecting Taraba to host the maiden Northeast gathering.

The Finance Committee noted that its consultation visits would continue as part of efforts to galvanize broad-based support ahead of the conference.

The maiden YOWICAN Northeast Conference is scheduled to hold in Jalingo from November 6 to 8, 2025, and is expected to attract over 3,000 youths from the six states of the region.

RELIGION: UMC-N Bishop Ande Emmanuel decries continual tensions,calls on Gov.Agbu to waive into the matter.

The Resident Bishop United Methodist Church Nigeria  Episcopal Area, Ande Emmanuel has decried continual tensions impacting the church in Nigeria. The Bishop, in a Press briefing in Jalingo, condemned any act of violence or disrespect to the church, referencing the attack at Banyan Theological Seminary in the Bambur Community of Karim Lamido Local government area. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week. The statement adds that the culprits were captured during a raid at a local hotel in Mayo Dassa area of Jalingo metropolis where they were hiding.  It adds that Further investigations led to the discovery that the gang's hideout was at Kona Mountain in Jalingo , where additional members of the syndicate were believed to be camped.
