Taraba Lefthanders Mark International Day, Urge Support for Left-Handed Children.

By Jako.

The Chairman of the Lefthanders Association, Taraba State Chapter, Hon. Sunday Yusuf Tonga, has felicitated with members of the association across the state on the occasion of International Lefthanders Day, celebrated annually on August 13.

In a statement signed by the State Secretary, Comrade Keke Moses, and issued in Jalingo, Hon. Tonga urged lefthanders to continue showcasing their distinctive talents and abilities, noting that they possess exceptional gifts that have contributed to various sectors of society.

He commended lefthanders in Taraba State for their role in the state’s growth and development, while also praising Governor Agbu Kefas for his unwavering commitment to the state’s transformation agenda.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by lefthanders, especially during childhood, Hon. Tonga appealed to parents, guardians, and caregivers to refrain from harassing or stigmatizing left-handed children. Instead, he called for moral and physical support to help them reach their full potential, citing their proven track record of excellence.

“The celebration of International Lefthanders Day is an opportunity to raise awareness about the unique challenges lefthanders face in a right-hand-dominated world, while also celebrating their creativity, resilience, and brilliance,” he said.

He noted that, despite being a minority, lefthanders have made outstanding contributions in fields such as arts, sports, science, and innovation. The Chairman also encouraged unregistered members in Taraba State to formally join the association to foster unity and progress.

International Lefthanders Day, established in 1992, seeks to highlight the experiences of left-handed individuals and advocate for inclusivity in a predominantly right-handed society.
