Taraba @34: Hon. Abner Shittu Urges Unity, Youth Participation in Democracy.



As Taraba State marks its 34th anniversary, the Member representing Karim I Constituency at the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Abner Shittu, has congratulated the people of the state while calling for renewed commitment to unity, peace, and progress.

In a goodwill message, Hon. Shittu described the day as a “historic moment” that offers an opportunity for reflection, thanksgiving, and hope for a brighter future. 
He commended the resilience of Tarabans over the years, noting that the state has continued to grow in strength and diversity despite numerous challenges.

“Taraba is blessed with abundant human and natural resources, rich cultural heritage, and unwavering resilience,” he said. “As your representative, I remain committed to ensuring that Karim I Constituency is not left behind in the journey of development.”

Hon. Shittu particularly charged youths in his constituency to seize the opportunity of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by obtaining their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs). He stressed that active participation in the electoral process remains the most powerful tool to influence leadership and shape the future.
“The PVC is not just a right but a responsibility,” he noted, urging the youths to embrace their civic duty in strengthening democracy.

The lawmaker also called for greater unity among Tarabans, urging citizens to rise above ethnic, religious, and political divides in the pursuit of justice, equity, and good governance.

He prayed for divine guidance for leaders and wisdom for the people to collectively achieve the Taraba of their dreams.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area.
