The 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of its Second Annual Range Classification Exercise, scheduled to take place from Monday, August 18, to Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
The training exercise, which is part of the Nigerian Army’s 2025 Forecast of Events, will be conducted at the 114 Battalion (Rear) Shooting Range in Jimlari, Jalingo, Taraba State.
In a statement signed by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the Brigade, residents of Jalingo and neighboring communities were urged not to panic over the expected sounds of gunfire and visible troop movements during the exercise.
“For public safety, farmers, herders, and other law-abiding citizens operating near the designated range area are strongly advised to stay away throughout the exercise period,” the statement read.
The Brigade also appealed to the media to assist in sensitizing the public, noting that awareness and cooperation are key to ensuring a safe and successful training exercise.
The annual range classification is aimed at sharpening the marksmanship and combat readiness of troops in line with the Nigerian Army’s operational goals.
