Provost Decries Armed Robbery Attack on Students’ Residence in Jalingo.

The Provost of Taraba State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Jalingo, Mrs. Esther Gana Danjuma, has condemned the recent invasion of students’ residences by armed robbers in the Yagai area of Jalingo.

Speaking in an interview with our Crime Correspondent, Danjuma described the incident as devastating, noting that the college management received a distress report of housebreaking and theft in one of the student compounds earlier in the day.
According to her, a delegation led by the Dean of Student Affairs promptly visited the affected compound, where some injured students were immediately taken for medical attention.

She further disclosed that security operatives have been briefed on the development and tasked to intensify surveillance in the area to prevent a recurrence.

The Provost commended Governor Agbu Kefas for the ongoing infrastructural projects in the college, particularly the construction of new hostels. She expressed optimism that once completed, the hostels would help curb insecurity faced by students residing off-campus.

One of the victims, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the robbers carried out the operation unhindered due to the absence of security personnel in the area.
The victim appealed to the state government to fast-track the completion of hostels within the college premises to enhance the safety of students.
