The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Taraba State chapter, Comrade Nathan Solomon, has hailed Governor Agbu Kefas for policies designed to fast-track development and reposition the state for progress.
In an interview with the Trade Union Correspondent in Jalingo, Solomon described the Governor’s “Five Fingers Agenda” as a blueprint with the potential to transform Taraba into one of the country’s most enviable states.
He particularly lauded the introduction of free and compulsory primary and secondary education, calling it a landmark decision that would produce a new generation of intellectuals and leaders.
The NUT chairman further noted that Taraba is already gaining recognition in the educational sector, citing the presence of key tertiary institutions such as the Federal University Wukari, Federal Polytechnic Bali, Taraba State University Jalingo, the Colleges of Education in Zing and Jalingo, the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, as well as Peacock College of Education. According to him, these institutions have firmly placed Taraba on the global education map.
Reflecting on the state’s 34th anniversary, Solomon commended the development achieved since its creation and urged residents to support the current administration in consolidating the gains.
While expressing confidence in the future of the education sector, he emphasized the need for teachers’ welfare to remain central to government policies, insisting that improved conditions of service are vital for educators to perform optimally.
