Edo Trains 100 Residents in Data Analysis to Boost Digital Economy.

By Jako.
The Edo State Government has empowered 100 residents with digital skills in data analysis using Power BI, as part of its drive to position citizens for opportunities in the global digital economy.

The training, which culminated in a graduation ceremony at the Edo State Information Communications Technology Agency (ICTA) headquarters in Benin City, was organized by ICTA in collaboration with Sidol Solutions Nigeria Limited and the PIP Community.

Managing Director of ICTA, Mr. Eghosa Urhoghide, said the initiative aligns with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s vision of building a digitally skilled workforce. He noted that the program was inclusive, with children, youths, and adults among the beneficiaries.

“We have a Governor who understands the value of ICT. The purpose of these trainings is to equip Edo people with in-demand digital skills. The graduation, where trainees showcased their projects, highlights the success of this initiative and motivates us to do more,” Urhoghide said. He commended the partners and pledged that the Agency would continue to expand such opportunities across other digital platforms.

The Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Corporate Change, Communication and Performance Management, Mrs. Joy Akigbe, said the State Government was not only regulating but also actively facilitating technological growth. Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Jonathan Ukpebor, described the initiative as timely, stressing the importance of digital skills in today’s technology-driven world.

Some participants described the program as transformative, expressing gratitude to the State Government and partners for providing the opportunity to advance their careers.

The graduation ceremony climaxed with a hackathon, where winners and runners-up were rewarded with cash prizes, underscoring the government’s commitment to nurturing innovation and creativity.

Farmers and herders once lived in uneasy but manageable coexistence until land sales, unchecked settlements, and political silence turned simple disputes into ethnic conflagrations. The echoes of those past crises are now knock...
