Joint Operation: Army, DSS Bust Gun-Running Syndicate in Taraba, Seize Arms Cache.

In a decisive crackdown on arms trafficking in Taraba State, troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have apprehended a suspected high-profile gun runner in Wukari Local Government Area.

The operation, which was conducted around Ambassador Roundabout in Wukari, led to the arrest of 29-year-old Bulyami Shuaib, a native of Belango Village in Karim Lamido Local Government Area. Security sources describe him as a major player in an illicit arms trafficking network active in the region.

A cache of arms and other items were recovered during the operation, including:

362 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition,
1 round of 7.62mm NATO ammunition,
₦842,100 in cash,and
One black Jing Cheng rubber motorcycle.

Two silver rings,and One First Bank ATM card.

Lieutenant Umar Muhammad,Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigerian Army Headquarters Jalingo disclosed in the a press statement issued to newsmen.

According to security authorities, the suspect is currently in custody and is cooperating with investigators by providing critical intelligence to aid further operations.

Commander of the 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their swift and successful operation. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to working with other security agencies to rid Taraba State of criminal elements and ensure lasting peace and safety for residents.

“This operation is a testament to the effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration. We remain dedicated to dismantling all criminal networks that threaten the peace of our communities,” General Uwa stated.

He also urged residents of Taraba to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid in sustaining peace and stability across the state.

The arrest comes amid heightened security concerns in parts of the state, with authorities pledging to intensify surveillance and operations to disrupt criminal syndicates operating in the region.
