Adamawa: WRAPA holds Town Hall Meeting, reaffirms women' rights.



The inclusion of women in socio-political matters has been identified catalyst for all-round development in a society.
This was the position of stakeholders at a Town Hall Meeting organized by Women's Rights Advancement Protection Alternative, WRAPA, in partnership with the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre, PLAC in Yola.
Women's Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative, WRAPA, is a non-governmental organization focused on promoting and protecting women's rights in Nigeria. 
Among others, the mission of WRAPA is to provide legal support and services, Promote gender equality, empower women through education and awareness, and Amos to create a society where women have equal opportunities and are protected from discrimination and violence.
Speaking, the Chairman of Yola North Local Government Area, Barrister Jibril Jimeta, accentuated the significant relevance of women, pointing out that their inclusion in the scheme of things is necessary.
Represented by his Vice Chairperson, Mrs Sarah Samuel, the Chairman expressed readiness to carry along and support women in their areas of need.
Earlier in a welcome address, the State coordinator of Women's Rights Advancement Protection Alternative, WRAPA, Barrister Fatima Bello Raji, explained that the essence of the Town Hall Meeting was to deliberate matters affecting women to champion more of their inclusion.
She maintained that women's role is central to the overall development of society.
Barrister Raji, who appreciated the invitees for attending the meeting, urged them to cross-fertilize ideas on ways to promote the course of women in society.
Also speaking, the Vice Chairperson, International Federation of Women Lawyers, Adamawa state Chapter, Lubna Muhammad Dodo, encouraged women to defy any form of stereotype and tenaciously minder their ways through active participation in politics.
She advised them to register for Permanent Voters Card and begin necessary consultation preparation for the seventh general election.
Similarly, the District Head of Jimeta, Alhaji Chibado Baba, represented by Alhaji Inuwa Hamman, acknowledged the function of women in nation-building and assured them of continuous support.
Among other groups, WRAPA partners with the Nigerian Women Trust Fund, Peering Advocacy and Advancement Centre in Africa, with support from the MacArthur Foundation.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area.
