TARABA: NUT Boss Nathan says Taraba State teachers are hundred percent in support of free education introduced by Dr Agbu Kefas.

The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT Taraba State Wing, Comrade Nathan Solomon has said people of Taraba State should support the Free Education Policy introduced in the state.
Nathan, in an interview, said if accorded the Needed Support, the initiative of Governor Agbu Kefas in the Education sector will yield lasting legacies.
The Chairman explained that so far, the burden of school fees for Secondary School students has been lifted for parents and Guardians, stressing that provisions have also been made for the distribution of bags, books, and sandals for pupils and students.

Comrade Nathan Solomon, who remarked that this policy can not be run in a fire brigade combat, said in due course, it will take shape in the state.
He said the leadership of the NUT in Taraba State appreciates the Governor for giving its members the needed priority as nation builders by payment of their salaries and wages as when due.
Comrade Nathan Solomon said teachers in the Taraba State are grateful for the high premium the Governor placed on them, saying they will reciprocate this through effective service delivery at their places of work.
He was quoted as saying, " The Governor's has achieved a lot. Some of the achievements include the parameter fencing of schools. He has also been paying our wages as of when due. Before he came on board, our teachers were not getting anything tangible from the government; from the inception of the Governor came on board, thirty thousand Naira Minimum Wage was implemented; that is a clear example, and evidence shows that he prioritized the teacher's welfare".
The chairman while commenting on the strategies put in place to checkmate the activities of teachers in their places of work, said the NUT is part of the monitoring team set up by the Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education.
He revealed that this Committee has visited schools in southern, Central, and Northern Senatorial zones of the State to monitor how teachers are carrying out their duties to justify the efforts of the present government in the education sector.
Comrade Nathan Solomon however, warned teachers who are in the habit of truancy and absenteeism from work to desist from it, stressing that any teacher caught wanting will be dealt with accordingly.
"This dream is not for him as a person, but it is for the state, and maybe larger society and the nation. Once our pupils and students are educated, we stand a better chance tomorrow to speak will be a chance tomorrow to be employed. That is why he is pushing hard to see the free Education stand in Taraba State, and we are giving him a hundred percent support to succeed in Taraba State" said Nathan.

Kurmi on the Brink: Why Silence Now Could Spell Disaster

By The Nigerian Newspointer Editorial Board In the quiet hills and lush forests of Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State, an uneasy wind is blowing. Migration in itself is not new—men and women have always moved in search of safety, trade, and survival. But what is happening in Kurmi today bears markers that Nigeria has, sadly, seen before. And if urgent steps are not taken, the consequences could be dire. A Pattern Too Familiar From Plateau to Benue, from Southern Kaduna to Zamfara, Nigeria’s troubled history is littered with stories of migration that started innocently but later spiraled into violent conflicts. Farmers and herders once lived in uneasy but manageable coexistence until land sales, unchecked settlements, and political silence turned simple disputes into ethnic conflagrations. The echoes of those past crises are now knock...
