DEVELOPMENT: Adamawa State,Cameroon Republic partnered for agricultural revolution.



Deputy governor professor Kaletapwa Farauta has advocated for smart agricultural technologies for improved food production, processing, storage and every other area of agriculture by local farmers.

The deputy governor made the advocacy when she granted audience to officials from Maroua University in Cameroon who were on an exchange visit to Modibbo Adama university Yola, to seek collaboration and partnership on teaching and research.

Led by the vice chancellor of Modibbo Adama University Yola professor Ibrahim Umar to her office on Thursday, the deputy governor described the move as timely, acknowledging that no academic activity or anything can be done in unsecured environment.

Professor Kaletapwa Farauta is hopeful that the exchange between the institutions will benefit Adamawa students, assuring them of government support.

She assured that they are partners on the lake chad basin, noting that what the institutions are doing is complementary to government policies and programs, especially to have a linkage with agriculture and shrinking rivers among other agricultural changes occasioned by the climate change.

The vice chancellor Modibbo Adama university Yola professor Ibrahim Umar who led the visiting team informed the deputy governor that Modibbo Adama university and its Maroua counterpart have collaborative engagements including that of Garoua and Gaoundere.

He said the two countries shares common border and similar cultural characteristics, engages in trade and other cooperative endeavours cut across security, impacts of climate crisis that affects the lake chad basin, hence the collaborative engagements with the university of Maroua and other two aforementioned universities from Cameroon, seeking to develop cooperation in areas of teaching and research to address their common challenges.

According to professor Umar, the outcome of the joint research to be conducted on issues of common interests will be beneficial to Adamawa state for policy planning and programmatic interventions in addressing issues of migration, border security governance, trade, environmental resource management, climate crisis management among other socio economic challenges.

The vice chancellor of University of Maroua Professor Idrissou Alioum said the exchange visit is to discuss and share experiences with Modibbo Adama university Yola, thereby seeking collaboration and support from Adamawa state government.

He also disclosed that it is aimed at strengthening Memorandum Of Understanding between the two institutions in the areas of mobility for students, teaching staff, and supervision, among others.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.
